Gordon F. Hague, age 83 of Elk Mound, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls, with his family by his side. Gordon was born on February 7, 1928 in Maiden Rock. He was the son of Charles and Bertha (McCrae). Gordon grew up in Maiden Rock and attended Maiden Rock School. He worked on the family farm with his family. After a logging accident at age 17 he wasn’t able to farm. Gordon worked in Red Wing at Rock Wool for a short time. Gordon married Mary Helen Close on August 23, 1952 at St. Francis in Ellsworth. Gordon went to work at Armours Meat Packing in South St. Paul, he worked there until transferring to Eau Claire in 1973. He retired from Armours after 33 years of service. For the last year, Gordon has been a resident of the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home. Gordon was an honest man, always with a smile on his face and he was a hard worker. He was an avid Viking Fan, he enjoyed playing cards with his friends and traveling the country. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary, two children, Margaret Mary Stecker of Louisville, KY and Timothy (Billie) of Altoona, five grandsons, Matthew (Windy) Taylor, Zachary (Kim) Hague, Shane Hague, Alexander and Mason Steckers, two great grandchildren, Isabelle and Michael Taylor, one brother, Russell of Elmwood, one sister, Edna (Darrold) Helmer of Prescott, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Patricia Marie Taylor, one grandson, Ryan Patrick Hague, two brothers, Earl and Gerald and two sisters, Grace Hague, and Bernice Funk. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 6 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound. Rev. Sangol Rajan and Fr. Victor Inbaraj will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. In-Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in Gordon’s name. Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Menomonie, is serving the family.
