Is Harry Potter Good Christian Fiction or a Gateway to the Occult?

People I've asked have strong feelings about the value of the Harry Potter books.  Some find in them great moral lessons for their children.  Others spit at the mere mention of Harry Potter.

 

Come tomorrow and listen to what two Catholic men, both educated at the same conservative Catholic college, have to say.  Find out what the Church has had to say on the important issue of what we read and watch.  This isn't just about a current, popular series of books - for fads and fantasies come and they go.  This is about how we should be forming the minds of our children and our own. 

 

You know the easy answer the world provides - "so long as it isn't hurting anyone it's alright" - fails to address the real issue.  Tomorrow night we hope to plumb the depths of the Harry Potter phenomenon and in the process understand what are the truly good things we need to provide our children in order that they may become men and women capable of final perseverance in hostile world.
