Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary Ordination May 2010

My daughter, son, and I attended the Solemn Pontifical Mass for the Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary with the conferral of Holy Orders to the Sacred Priesthood today. Six men of God became Priests for Christ and His Church. What a beautiful experience it was for myself and family. This was my first ordination ever!! It was especially wonderful to assist with this as it was for the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter, which was formed over 20 years ago by John Paul the Great in an effort to honor the needs of those who desire to worship Our Lord by means of the Traditional liturgy of the Catholic Church. The Seminary, which is in Denton, NE is the Fraternities Seminary for the English speaking world. The Celebrant was His Excellency, The Most Reverend Fabian Bruskewitz, D.D., S.T.D., Bishop of Lincoln, NE. Although we feel we are in the desert here, I must say I am overjoyed to have as my Shepard a humble man who is able to celebrate the Mass in the Extraordinary Form. We are blessed in that regard that Bishop B. is so supportive of the Tridintine Mass. St. Francis is the Oratory in Lincoln where the FSSP celebrates Mass daily. Praise the Lord for the Old Mass!!! I could go on all day, needless to say I highly recommend attending an Ordination Mass....especially in the Old Rite. Nothing against the New Rite, mind you, I very much believe in and accept the New Rite as valid. Too often, though, I have seen "extras" added to the Mass that are not supposed to be there. A properly celebrated Novus Ordo Mass is a beautiful Sacrament to assist at. I have had the great pleasure of knowing many Priests who celebrate the New Mass as it should be, and thank God for them. Any how, off the soap box, check out the Pics, any questions shoot me a comment. Oh yeah, the Ordination was celebrated at the Cathedral here in Lincoln...........if you look closely you will see a resurexifix......not exactly what one would like to see.......what can you do? Pray, Hope, Don't worry........I'm workin on it.

Sanctification in Work

I read this article on Zenit.org and it struck a cord with me. I have, as of late, had increased difficulties in finding the joy in work and how I am able to be joyous and find holiness throughout work. This sounds like something one might hear from St. Jose Maria Escriva when he spoke on Opus Dei. I wish I could find an Opus Dei priest in my area to help me find the joy through difficult work.....and people. The Holy Father direcred this to the Police force, however could definately be applied to my line of work.

VATICAN CITY, JAN. 15, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Accomplishing one's duty with love, especially when it is difficult, can be a prayer that leads to holiness, says Benedict XVI.

The Holy Father affirmed this today when he received in audience the members of the General Inspectorate for Public Security in the Vatican.

In this traditional January meeting, the Pope recognized the sacrifices of the guard, as well as those of their families, due to "the shift-work required in order to maintain constant watch over the area around St. Peter's Square and the Vatican."

He said: "A new year is beginning and we have many expectations and hopes. Yet we cannot hide the fact that many threatening clouds are gathering on the horizon.

"We must not, however, lose heart; rather we must keep the flame of hope alive in our hearts.

"For us as Christians the true hope is Christ, the Father's gift to humanity. [...] Only Christ can help us build a world in which justice and love reign."

The Pontiff exhorted his listeners to see their work as a mission, "a service to others through order and security and, at the same time, a form of individual asceticism; what we may call constant internal vigilance, which requires harmony between discipline and cordiality, between self-control and attentive welcome of the pilgrims and tourists who come to the Vatican."

He added: "If undertaken with love, such service becomes prayer, a prayer even more welcome to God when your work is thankless, monotonous and tiring, especially during the night and in bad weather.

"It is by doing their duty well that each of the baptized achieves his or her vocation of sanctity."

Holy Spirit Novena - Starts today

Pentecost is just days away. Please join our family in the novena in honor of third person of the Blessed Trinity.

The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian.
